Moncharm | Ch. Angelus 2003
Moncharm has picked one of the best labels produced in St. Emilion in 2003, the 2003 Angelus has today grown into an exemplary vintage after eleven years of its inception. This label has a unique blend of 57% Cabernet Franc and 43% Merlot. The dashing purple color is complimented by the magnificent bouquet of the forest floor, assorted fruits, charcoal, liquorice and spices. The palate is boisterous, tremendously textured and refreshing. With some patience, this label will be ready to be listed among the greatest.
Chateau Angelus wines are produced under the strict supervision of the de Bouard family who has been in the wine business since centuries. This vintage wine earned its name and logo from a daily event, the wine makers and the people working at the Bordeaux wine yards could listen to bells from three local churches, which gave it the distinct logo. They somehow felt that this spirit is blessed.
Saint-Émilion is equipped with the most diverse terroir in the Bordeaux region. The vineyards are planted on the clay-rich soil which is ideal for the growth of Merlot that is a prime component of all wines produced here. There are two Premier Grand Crus Classés (A), Château Cheval-Blanc and Château Ausone and thirteen Premier Grand Crus Classés (B) in this region.
