Moncharm | Château Duhart Milon 2009
An astonishing blend of 63% Cabernet and 37% Merlot, Duhart Milon 2009 has an opalescent colour which appears inky on standing and leaves behind purple, blue hue on swirling in the glass. The bouquet offers sweet aromas of creme de cassis, liquorice, forest floor, cedar and subtle lead pencil notes. It has a dense palate which is viscous and full-bodied. The label will be ready in 5 to 7 years and can easily last for 20 to 30 years.
There was a boom in grape cultivation in Pauillac region due to the urging of the Lafite lords. In this time, Milon wines became Château Lafite's second wine. In 1855, Duhart Milon was classified as the only fourth growth vineyard in Pauillac due to its excellent soil quality. The property came in the hands of Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) in 1962. It is during this time that the vineyard received an expert touch and flourished into its current form. Absolute care is given to this estate that results into wines that show magnificent structure and depth.
Neighbouring Saint-Estephe and Saint-Julien, the Pauliac region is a known for its exemplary wines and vineyards. It boasts three first growth estates and many legendary winemakers including Châteaux Lafite-Rothschild, Mouton Rothschild and Latour. It has a gravel-rich soil which allows the roots to reach deeper than all the other regions in Medoc, this adds an efficacious quality to the fruit and leads to complex and concentrated wines.
