Moncharm | Château Les Forts De Latour 2008
A leading second-wine label, the Les Forts De Latour 2008 is made up of a unique blend of 31.5% Merlot and 66.5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine has a stunning dark ruby color, complimented with a bouquet of black currants, forest floor and a hint of underbrush. The wine is rich and round in texture and Moncharm believes it will drink well for 15 to 20 years.
With a legendary history of producing wines since the 16th century, the Chateau Latour today has 80 hectares vast vineyards. Out of this 48 hectares surround the Château known as the Enclos. The grapes planted on the estate consists of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and the rest 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. This estate produces three types of wines: Grand Vin, Pauillac de Chateau Latour and Forts de Latour.
Neighbouring Saint-Estephe and Saint-Julien, Pauliac region is a known for its exemplary wines and vineyards. It boasts three first growth estates and many legendary winemakers including Châteaux Lafite-Rothschild, Mouton Rothschild and Latour. It has a gravel-rich soil which allows the vine roots to reach deeper than all the other regions in Medoc, this adds an efficacious quality to the fruit and leads to complex and concentrated wines.
