Moncharm | Château Montrose 2007
An exceptional vintage, the Montrose 2007 label has a dark ruby color which is complimented by a wonderful bouquet of creme de cassis, spring flowers and crushed rocks aroma. It has an opulent and dense texture with balanced tannins. The mouthfeel ranges between medium to full-bodied with a persistent, smooth finish. Moncharm would say the wine can easily be enjoyed for 15+ years.
Château Montrose has the finest terroir because of its proximity to the Gironde Estuary, which maintains a mild mesoclimate which is extremely suitable for vine growth. The other advantage of this estate is its gravel rich topsoil, which regulates the suns heat and also maintains the temperature in the night that is very important for the perfect maturity of the fruit.
Though, this region lacks a premier Grand Cru Classé Châteaux, still Châteaux of Montrose and Cos d'Estournel produce some exceptional wines. This region has the advantage of high clay content in the soil due to which more moisture is retained, and the resulting fruit has a high quality even in the dry vintages
