Moncharm | Château Pichon Baron 2008
A vintage in making, Pichon Baron 2008 - Moncharm sees this as one of the most complex and concentrated wines of Paulliac. It has a bold purple colour accompanied by a flamboyant bouquet of creme de cassis, blackberries, charcoal, liquorice and coffee. The palate is well balanced and delightfully full-bodied with silky tannins. This magnificent wine can be aged for two decades effortlessly.
Pichon Baron is located in the southern Paulliac region on a marvellous gravelly soil. The estate has been managed by the descendants of Jacques de Pichon. The magnificent château was built by Raoul de Pichon-Longueville in 1851. Since 1988, this estate has received lots of renovation and modern winemaking techniques which ensure the production of only the highest quality.
Neighbouring Saint-Estephe and Saint-Julien, the Pauliac region is a known for its exemplary wines and vineyards. It boasts three first growth estates and many legendary winemakers including Châteaux Lafite-Rothschild, Mouton Rothschild and Latour. It has a gravel-rich soil which allows the vine roots to reach deeper than all the other regions in Medoc, this adds an efficacious quality to the fruit and leads to complex and concentrated wines.
